Germany: Pine log price index overcomes brief downward trend

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for pine rose again in October 2021 after a brief downward trend and insufficient data in the previous month. On average, the wood species increased by 1.4% compared to September to a level of 85.6 points. For the previous month, Destatis did not have sufficient data available for B and C grades. Compared to August, however, B quality increased by 3.1% to 93.3 points and C gained 0.1% to 69.2 points.

Alternativtext Pine pulpwood recorded a decrease of 4% to 70.3 points in October. Spruce pulpwood gained 3.9% to a value of 64.2 points. Douglas fir pulpwood experienced another trend reversal and rose by 5.2% to 54.8 points. All this increased the softwood pulpwood index by 0.5% to 66 points.

Year-on-year, the pine index rose by 21.1%. B ranges increased by 10.3%. C grades gained 21.2% compared to October 2020. Pine pulpwood exceeded the index level of the same month last year by 23.8%
