Germany: pine roundwood price index rising faster

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for pine continued to rise in March 2022. On average, log wood increased by 1.3% compared to February to a level of 86.8 points. B quality gained 2.4% to 101 points. 3/4 m lengths increased by 3.9% to 103.7 points.

C grades saw another turnaround and thus an increase of 4.2% to 79.7 points. 3 m lengths contributed to this with an increase of 2.5% to 91.3 points.

Alternativtext Pine pulpwood in March recorded an increase of 4.5% to 91.4 points. Spruce pulpwood rose by 5.5% to a value of 89.6 points. Douglas fir pulpwood increased by 3.4% to 64.1 points. The softwood pulpwood index increased by 5% to 88.4 points.

Year-on-year, the pine index is up 24%. B ranges increased by 19.5% - in a length of 3 to 4 m by 17.2%. C grades gained 25.5% compared to March 2021. 3m lengths gained 28.2%. Pine pulpwood exceeded the index level of the same month last year by 34.8%
