Germany: Beech log price index partly rising sharply

Alternativtext The German producer price indices for beech logs rose significantly in July 2022. On average, they increased by 2.9% to 108.9 points. B grade rose 5.1% month-on-month to a level of 109.8 points. The index for 3 m lengths rose by 2.5% to 105.1 points, while that for 5 m lengths increased by 6.3% to 110 points.

C ranges rose 3.5% in July to a level of 107.5 points. 3 m lengths increased by 1.5% to 103.1 points, 5 m lengths increased by 4.5% to 101.5 points. B/C ranges recorded an increase of 0.8% to 110.7 points.

Alternativtext Beech pulpwood in July recorded an increase of 0.3% to 106.6 points. Oak pulpwood increased by 2.5% to 106.1 points. The hardwood industrial wood price index increased by 0.7% to 106.5 points.

Year-on-year, the beech log index was up 8.7% on the same month. B grade increased by 5% with a 0.2% increase in 3m lengths and a 5.1% increase in 5m lengths. C ranges increased by 6.3%. 3m lengths gained 7.3%, 5m lengths increased 20.3%. B/C ranges increased by 15.4%. Industrial quality recorded an increase of 12.6%.
