Japan Feb housing starts fell 5%

Housing starts in Japan fell 5% in February to 82,962 units, after a drop of 5.7% in January 2008, according to statistical data released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Japanese housing starts declined for the eight straight month in February.
The fall in housing starts is still linked to the introduction in late June 2007 of tighter safety rules on new home construction.
