The European Commission has released this month a regulation imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of okoumé plywood originating in China.

The decision comes after the European Panel Federation has lodged a complaint to the European Union on the 22nd of October 2015, asking for an investigation on China’s plywood imports. The complaint was on behalf of producers representing more than 25 % of the total Union production of okoumé plywood.

The Chinese plywood has been sold at a very low price, a thing that led to an unstable market, according to the complaint.

The EPF stated that the exporting producers from China weren’t offered the normal market economy treatment and the EU should impose measures in force of constructing a normal value for the plywood imported.

Now, following the anti-dumping investigation, the European Commission decided to impose a definitive duty on imports of okoumé plywood from China.

The measures took the form of an ad valorem duty and the duty levels imposed ranged from 6,5 % to 23,5 % for four producers and 66,7 % for all other producers.
